Ava Fellerman dead: Student at Wilkes University – cause of death and obituary
At 82, Wilkes-Barre resident Eugene “Jean” Maffey, Sr. passed away on February 27, 2022 at the Penn Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Louis and Ruth Maffei welcomed Gene on March 18, 1939 in Wilkes-Barre. He attended GAR Memorial High School and graduated in 1956. On February 16, they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary when he met his one and only Dawn Sallitt at midnight in the public square.
Hess Gas Station and Astro Car Wash are proudly under his ownership. Additionally, Gene spent 18 years working for the Wilkes-Barre School District before ending his career with the Luzerne County Parks Department. He served in the Army Reserve before.
Louis and Ruth Maffei, Gene’s parents, preceded him in death. Moses and Marie Sallitt, the father and mother of the bride, the nephew Louis Maffey, and the husband-to-be Michael Brostowski.
In addition to his beloved wife Dawn Maffei, Gene is survived by his brothers Lou and Margo Maffei, daughter Dawn and her fiancé John Blechmidt, daughter Tonia and her husband Gregory Barrouk, son Eugene Jr. and wife Kathleen Maffei, grandson Danielle and his fiancé Michael O’Donovan, Nicholas and his wife Alexandra Porter, Julian and Ryan Maffei, Elise, Ava, and Aiden Fellerman, great-granddaughter
The loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, and great-grandfather that Gene was. His family is the thing that makes him the proudest and content. He never misses a single sporting event or academic event involving his grandchildren.
Together with Bob Anstett, his best friend, he adores hunting. While enjoying his wife’s handmade meals and a slice of Dymonds Bakery cake, he particularly enjoys watching the Dallas Cowboys and Penn State football, NASCAR, and numerous series on the Discovery Channel.
