Jeep Compass 5th Anniversary Edition will be available in India shortly

The Compass is Jeep’s first domestically built vehicle; a limited edition variant will be offered.

Jeep India has teased the Compass 5th Anniversary Edition, which will be released shortly. It will, however, be restricted in quantity. The Compass SUV was introduced in India in 2017 and had a mid-life refresh in 2020.

Expected to get updates

The teaser doesn’t tell much about what may be new on this limited-edition model, save that it will have a unique ‘5th Anniversary Edition’ branding. However, based on previous special editions of the Compass offered over its history, we may anticipate probable cosmetic and interior upgrades for the 5th Anniversary Edition.

For example, the Compass Night Eagle Edition, which was released in April of this year, had various gloss black visual upgrades on the outside as well as new upholstery on the interior. The Compass 5th Anniversary Edition might receive a similar treatment, as well as additional colour possibilities.

The Compass was the first Jeep to be locally produced in India, and it has since remained the carmaker’s mainstay in the nation.

Mechanically, it is likely to remain unaltered.

Like prior Compass special editions, the 5th Anniversary Edition will most likely be mechanically similar to the standard device. The Compass is powered by either a 163hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine or a 173hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine, with manual or automatic gearbox options; the 4×4 system is only available on diesel-automatic variants. It is unknown whether the 5th Anniversary Edition will be available in all variants or only a few.

Jeep Compass prices presently range between Rs 18.39 lakh and Rs 26.14 lakh (ex-showroom). Expect the Compass 5th Anniversary Edition to be slightly more expensive.

Jeep India line-up

In India, Jeep presently sells the Compass, Wrangler, and Meridian (three-row variant of the Compass), all of which are locally built. In addition, the company will debut the new-generation Grand Cherokee in the coming months, and unlike the previous-generation model, which was offered as a CBU, this time it will be produced locally. Jeep claims that India will be the first market outside of North America to get domestically manufactured Grand Cherokees.
