Maya Higa is an American conservationist, falconer, wildlife watcher, Twitch streamer, and YouTuber. She was born on May 24, 1998, so she is 24 years old. She started Alveus Sanctuary in Austin, Texas, which is a non-profit home for exotic animals and a virtual education center. She was in a relationship with anchor Mizkif in the past.
Maya and her two siblings grew up on a farm in Northern California. She got a BA in Agricultural Education and Communications from Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo.
Higa decided to keep chatting one day in February 2019, and that’s how she met two men. After talking for a while, they suggested that Higa start streaming on Twitch, which she did. In her first streams, she mostly sang and talked with people. One day, she brought her young red-tailed hawk in front of the camera.
Later, the clip was posted to the r/LiveStreamFails subreddit, where it quickly became very popular. Because there weren’t any falconers or wildlife rehabilitators on the site before, her videos were very different from those of other streamers. This helped her get more attention.
When she realized that she could teach people on Twitch about animals, she focused more on her passion. After she turned 21, she hosted a charity event for the local homeless coalition where she had volunteered before. This got the attention of the media. $32,000 was made from the stream.
Maya later met Mizkif, who was also a streamer. She first talked to him on Discord. After a few online dates and live-streaming attempts to fix her computer, Mizkif invites Maya to fly away and meet up in person. This is possible because a fan gave Mizkif a lot of money to make it happen. Even though they didn’t want to date, they ended up going out together. Higa started Conservation Cast in July 2019. It is a podcast where people can learn about animals and get information from experts, such as conservationists, nature lovers, and science communicators.
