Today, Qualcomm showed off its next-generation top-of-the-line chip, which they call the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.The new SoC has better performance and can be up to 40% more efficient.Meizu’s official Weibo account just posted that the company’s next flagship phone will be the first to have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
Xiaomi has made similar claims, so we will have to wait and see who wins. The Chinese manufacturer didn’t say what the phone’s name is, but we think it will be the Meizu 19, since the Meizu 18 came out almost a year ago.

Already, OnePlus and Xiaomi have said that the new chipset from Qualcomm will be in their next top-of-the-line products. Now, Meizu has joined the party and confirmed that it, too, is working on a smartphone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. This phone is likely the Meizu 19. Here’s what’s going on.

The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is made on a 4nm process node and has a new 1+2+2+3 architecture with a 3.2GHz Kryo super core based on Cortex-X3, four 2.8GHz performance cores (2Cortex A715+ 2Cortex A710), and three 2.0GHz Cortex-A510 energy efficiency cores.
Qualcomm says that compared to the first-generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform, the new chipset is a big step forward. The performance of the 8 Gen 2’s upgraded Qualcomm Adreno GPU has gone up by 25%, and the Qualcomm Kryo CPU uses 40% less energy.
Foxconn is said to be the company that made Meizu’s new phone.
The phone should still be in the testing and trial production phase. We plan to launch in January of next year. More details will likely emerge soon.
